Metacognition

It sounds like a “big” word, and it deserves to be. Cultivating metacognition is one of the most important things you can do to impact on learning in your school and organisation.

Metacognition means “Thinking about your thinking”. It is essential that we become more mindful about our actions, and reflect on the impact of our work. Whether you are a teacher, a headmaster, head of curriculum, CEO, student or employee, metacognition has been proven to impact significantly on outcomes.

Consider the key actions on the poster: Ultimately it is about an openness to consider what you are doing well, and where you can improve.
